Railway Industry
Davis has over 40 years of experience in designing and manufacturing pneumatic products and systems for the rail industry both in the UK and throughout the world and this has produced a considerable depth of ‘industry specific’ knowledge. We are conversant with the various railway specifications and work with our customers to ensure products are fully validated to the exacting standards of the industry. Over the years we have worked closely with leading railway industry companies and have produced a variety of products to suit a wide range of applications including third rail and overhead current collection systems, hopper door operation systems, track head conditioning equipment – sleet brushes, brake control systems, auxiliary control systems, sanding control systems, horn operation, de-couplers etc. Shown below are examples of some of the key applications:
Pantograph Control Systems
Pantograph lifting cylinder and control panel designed and manufactured by Davis.
Hopper Door Operation Systems
Cylinder complete with locking mechanism and control panel designed and manufactured by Davis for wagon door operation.
Track Head Conditioning Systems - Sleet Brushes
The Sleet Brush is a unique product from Davis, it is fitted to all London Underground lines that work above ground and the Network Rail MPV’s. The Sleet Brush is a set of spring steel tines, raised and lowered by a pneumatic cylinder, that scrubs any surface it passes over. This is a well proven extremely heavy duty product with a history of long life, 3rd rail power rails are the most common use.
Brake Control Systems
We design and manufacture components and complete systems for rail braking applications. Pneumatic control panel showing the internal tracks of circuit with heavy duty sub based mounted valves.
Windscreen Wiper Systems
Davis supply complete windscreen wiper systems and component parts that are manufactured by BROT Technologies. • Over 40 years experience • More than 20000 units are in use in France • 30 years life for actuator, 10 years between services • 5 years minimum life for the arms • 2 year guarantee on the wiper blades • Low life cycle costs guaranteed
Valves and Pressure Regulators for Railway Applications
Various spool valves and ball valves designed for the railway sector, including de-coupler valves and double ganged switched valves.
